The Optional & Progress Tests are paper assessments that have been developed for Years 2 - 6. They provide teachers with an independent measure of their pupils’ attainment to feed into their overall professional judgment of a pupil’s progress. They cover English (reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling), mathematics (reasoning and arithmetic) and, for Year 6, there are science tests.

The tests follow the same structure as the live national curriculum tests and they are developed to meet the same specifications. They will look and feel similar to the national tests to give pupils the experience of the style and content of the KS1 and KS2 tests.
